Morning Light Wins 2026 Diversity in Workforce Award

We are incredibly proud to share that Morning Light has been named the 2026 Diversity in Workforce Award winner at the 25th Annual Mayor’s Celebration of Diversity Awards in Indianapolis.
Morning Light Executive Director Madison Wood-Gonzalez accepted the award on behalf of our entire organization at the annual celebration, which recognizes employers and community organizations helping to build a stronger and more inclusive Indianapolis workforce.
The Diversity in Workforce Award, received through EmployIndy, recognizes organizations that intentionally foster diversity throughout their workforce and create inclusive environments where people from all backgrounds have the opportunity to thrive. For Morning Light, that recognition means a great deal.

The People Who Make Morning Light Home
Every day, our team comes together around a very simple mission: to provide a free home and compassionate care for individuals on hospice who are in urgent need of safe housing.
Our residents come to us from across the Indianapolis community, bringing with them different stories, experiences, cultures and beliefs. The people who care for them are equally diverse.
Our caregivers and staff represent a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, perspectives, experiences and faith traditions. We believe those differences make Morning Light stronger and help create a home where every resident is welcomed and cared for as an individual.
“This recognition belongs to the extraordinary people who make Morning Light what it is,” said Madison Wood-Gonzalez. “Our residents come to us from many different backgrounds, and so do the people who care for them. We believe there is enormous strength in that diversity and in creating a home where everyone is treated with dignity, compassion and love.”
More Than 1,000 Lives Served
Since 2004, more than 1,000 individuals have called the Morning Light Home their home from every background and faith. Working alongside hospice providers, volunteers, donors and community partners, we provide housing and around-the-clock caregiver support completely free of charge to our residents and their families.Receiving the 2026 Diversity in Workforce Award is a wonderful recognition of the people behind that mission.
We are deeply grateful to EmployIndy for this honor and for its work celebrating the employers and organizations helping make Indianapolis a place where people from all backgrounds can contribute, belong and thrive. Most of all, congratulations and thank you to our remarkable Morning Light team. This award belongs to you.
