Morning Light and the History of The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home

Until September 17, 2025, Morning Light Home was known as The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home.

The Home first opened in July 2004 and was named in honor of Abbie Hunt Bryce, founder of the Visiting Nurse Service. Compassionate Indianapolis citizens recognized the urgent need for a home for individuals on hospice who were unhoused, of limited means, or facing their diagnosis alone.

From the beginning, the mission was clear: to provide a safe, dignified, and loving place for those with nowhere else to go at the end of life.

The Home has never been a medical facility, a nursing home, or a hospice center. It has always been something more profound — a true home. A place where individuals facing a terminal diagnosis can spend their final chapter with respect, comfort, and friendship.
