Christmas In July: Morning Light’s Mid-Year Holiday Celebration
Christmas in July is one of Morning Light’s most cherished traditions. This year’s event brought laughter, carols, cookies, and even a sun-kissed Santa to our home.
A Heartwarming Twist on the Holidays for Those Who Can’t Wait for December
Christmas in July is one of Morning Light’s most cherished traditions, a chance to bring all the warmth, wonder, and magic of the holiday season to our residents during the summer months.

At Morning Light, we believe joy doesn’t follow a calendar and that holiday magic can (and should) happen whenever it’s needed most. This tradition was created to offer the spirit of the season to residents who sadly may not be with us come winter. This year’s event brought laughter, carols, cookies, and even a sun-kissed Santa to our home.
The halls were filled with the scent of freshly baked cookies, lovingly made by volunteers whose hearts are as warm as their ovens. Our incredible partners at CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions arrived with songs and smiles, caroling through the Home and handing out beautiful gift bags filled with thoughtful treats and handmade touches.

And then came Santa made a surprise summer stop straight from his vacation in Santa Cruz. He brought a touch of magic that lit up every room. This year, Chevy the Spaniel from Canine Companions stepped in for Rudolph, charming residents with his holiday cheer and tail-wagging spirit.

Earlier in the week, residents also had a special visit from Wrigley the Golden Retriever, dressed as one of Santa’s little helpers. Wrigley spent precious time with our resident Carol, alongside her daughter Christa, who reflected, “Mom used to take her dog to my dad’s nursing home. It was a full-circle moment for me.” Thanks to Rhiannon Whiteis of Enlight Hospice and Jo Curtiss from Indy Love On A Leash, this visit became another treasured memory.
Christmas in July isn’t just a themed event—it’s a moment of connection for those whose time is precious. By recreating the spirit of December in the heart of summer, we honor the lives and stories of our residents in the most joyful way we know how.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who helped make the day so special—our generous volunteers, our friends at CICOA, the caring teams who brought Chevy and Wrigley to visit, and of course, Santa himself.
