Morning Light Assumes Leadership of Abbie Hunt Bryce Home

Indianapolis- Morning Light, Inc., formerly the Visiting Nurse Service Foundation, Inc., is now directly managing and operating the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home for hospice residents.  The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home provides free living arrangements and care for low-income or homeless individuals in their last days or months of life. Started by the Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) in 2004, and recently managed by the Franciscan VNS, the Home has served over 320 residents.

“It’s a privilege to assume this unique mission from the Franciscan VNS which does such a compassionate job,” said Tom Fodor, Executive Director CEO of Morning Light.  “Without their past stewardship, we would not be in such an excellent position to continue this wonderful legacy.”

The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home offers twelve private rooms as well as kitchen facilities, living rooms and family room space for its residents.  Additionally, trained staff and volunteers provide emotional, physical and spiritual support to each individual, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.  It is only one of seven facilities in the country that provides this type of care.

Since separating from the VNS in 2011, Morning Light has worked to develop its new brand identity as well as expand and refine its programs which also include the 35-room Pennwood Place Apartments.  “It’s a natural progression that we now operate the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home,” states Fodor.  “While the services that the Home provides will not change, we’re eager to explore additional opportunities that can help better serve and support our community.”
