A Wish Fulfilled Just in Time: Kevin, the Colts, and Cam Bynum’s Magical Musical gift to the Morning Light Home
Just before Christmas, we shared a simple hope with our community.
Kevin — one of our residents at the Morning Light Home — had made a wish through our Making Memories program. Kevin was on hospice, very sick, and nearing the end of his life. When we asked if there was anything special he wished for, his answer was humble and heartfelt:
He wanted to meet a Colts player.
Kevin was a lifelong Indianapolis Colts and IU fan. From his bed at Morning Light, he watched all the games he could, cheering in blue and white, holding tight to the team that had brought him joy for decades. With the holidays approaching, we put his wish out into the world, knowing it was a long shot, but believing in the kindness and reach of our community.
And something beautiful happened.
Behind the scenes, people stepped forward. Messages were shared. Connections were made. And just two days before Christmas, Kevin’s Christmas miracle arrived. With a special thank you to former board member, Joseph L. Haskins Jr., whose quiet advocacy helped bring Kevin’s wish to life.

Indianapolis Colts safety Camryn Bynum came to the Morning Light Home, not alone. He brought with him his close friends, the Careless Vibez, a singing group who had flown in from Miami. He brought his mom and sisters, his wife and young child, members of the Colts organization, and Colts Cheerleaders. Together, they chose to spend a precious afternoon with people they had never met, simply out of kindness.
They filled our home with wonderful Christmas carols. They then sat with residents, listened to their stories about the Colts and the meaning football had played in their lives. They handed out Colts merchandise. They laughed. They took photos. They stayed present.
And at the center of it all was of course, Kevin.
Watch the magical moment Cam Bynum and the Careless Vibez Singers sung Silent Night to Kevin, fulfilling a Making Memories wish, just before Christmas.
By Christmas, Kevin was very weak and had to remain in his own room. But when he learned that Cam Bynum was coming to see him, he smiled from ear to ear. Cam visited Kevin at his bedside, along with Kevin’s sister, April. He sang “Silent Night” and other carols with his friends. It was a gathering that no one will forget who was there that afternoon. In that moment, Kevin wasn’t just a patient on hospice, he was a life being honored.
Local news outlets FOX59 and WTHR Channel 13 captured the moment, along with Cam’s own media team, but what happened in that room went far beyond any camera.Sadly, a few days later, our resident Kevin passed away. But he left this world knowing he was truly seen. Knowing he was valued. Knowing that strangers and new friends had shown up just for him. We will always be grateful to the Indianapolis Colts, to Cam Bynum, to Careless Vibez, to Cam’s wonderful family, and to everyone behind the scenes who helped make this visit possible.

This is what the Making Memories Program exists for:
To make sure that even at the end of life, love, dignity, and joy still have a place. Kevin’s story will forever live in the heart of the Morning Light Home, a reminder that sometimes, Christmas wishes still come true.
